Hallux valgus protection for daily relief of bunion pain in the shoe.

Indications for EPITACT® hallux valgus protection
Do you suffer from a foot "bunion" that hurts in your shoes and makes walking difficult?
Hallux valgus protection prevents and relieves pain caused by excessive pressure and friction on the "bunion" when walking. It is particularly indicated in cases of advanced hallux valgus, when the big toe is no longer laterally mobile.

The EPITHELIUM 26® silicone gel patent
The patented EPITHELIUM 26® silicone gel is exclusive to EPITACT®. Thanks to tests carried out in a specialized laboratory, its pressure-distribution properties have been validated and its thickness optimized to create a minimal footprint in the shoe.

How to use the silicone hallux valgus guard
Wash hallux valgus protection before 1st use.
The protection should be worn next to the skin. For optimum support, slip over tights, stockings or socks.

Contraindications for hallux valgus protection
Do not use on skin lesions.
For people with diabetes, arteritis, polyneuritis, neuropathy of the lower limbs or varicose ulcers: ask your doctor or chiropodist for advice, and monitor your foot during use.

How do I care for my hallux valgus protector?
Silicone protection is machine-washable at 30°C, or hand-washable (without rubbing) with soap and water. Do not chlorinate. Do not iron or steam. Do not tumble dry. Do not dry-clean. Discard and replace as soon as fabric or seams show signs of deterioration.

What is hallux valgus?
Hallux valgus is a deformity of the big toe. The big toe tilts inwards, while the first metatarsal deviates outwards. Gradually, the end of this bone, known as the metatarsal head, protrudes to the side of the foot, forming a bony bump known as a "bunion". Hallux valgus is an irreversible deformity; it cannot disappear over time.

How to choose the right size?
Choosing the right size for silicone hallux valgus protection depends on your shoe size. Refer to the size guide. If you hesitate between two sizes, choose the smaller one.

When should I use silicone hallux valgus protection?
Hallux valgus protection can be worn at all stages of the condition, but is particularly recommended for advanced stages, when the joint at the base of the big toe is ankylosed. The deformity can then be protected, but can no longer be corrected mechanically. For early to moderate stages, there are soft corrective orthoses that realign the big toe when walking, and rigid corrective orthoses that limit the progression of hallux valgus at night.
